These microbes grow as a result of the energy that becomes available with the degradation of rumen carbohydrates where rumen protein is used as a protein source.
Rumen protein is therefore first degraded to ammonia. Microbial protein has an amino acid pattern that almost resembles that of milk protein and it is therefore efficiently converted to milk protein. And when the level of microbial protein production is higher, there is less by pass protein needed. For an efficient growth of rumen microbes it is required to have a synchronized supply of rumen carbohydrates and rumen proteins. If the supply of protein is too high without an available source of carbohydrates, the protein will be used by the microbes as an energy sources and the nitrogen will be wasted. A relatively surplus of rumen protein compared to rumen carbohydrate is represented in the rumen protein balance.作者: 矮子 時間: 2007-5-28 23:11
Very hard to control the synchronized supply of rumen carbohydrates and proteins especially synchronized degradation rate of rumen carbohydrates and proteins.
